Image
Just finished up this axe set. This small axe is great to used to do all the small chores on a Trek or in camp, like cutting kindling and game prep. It's a much lighter alternative to a belt axe. This axe is made to be carried over the shoulder. The sheath is made from 3-4oz. veg tan leather, hand stitched and dyed a dark brown and treated with bee's wax. The strap is adjustable with a brass buckle and will fit an average to tall person. The head is forged from medium carbon steel with a slight hammered finish and it has an oval eye. The size is about 4 1/4" long and has a 2" in cutting edge. The axe is fitted with a 12" hickory handle. **SOLD **

New Accouterments

New trade ax & red handle trade knife  The Capt. is working on a new persona of a officer commissioned by Sir William Johnson to operate as a ranger in the Mohawk Valley. Here are a few of his new accouterments that he has picked up to go along with the new persona. All leather work was done by hand and no dye was used. When finished I hand rubbed in neets-foot oil and some bee's wax for the final finish.

Powder Horn Straps

Image
I just finished up making these two different powder horn straps for a gentlemen who is doing a western fur trade persona. He wanted one that he could attach to the strap of his bag and one that was adjustable, so this is what I came up with. I braided some jute adding iron O-rings and leather wags to attach the horn with and on the other ends I cut a small strip of leather strapping and attached the braid to them. He can now attach them to his bag strap. The braided strap is treated with bee's wax and a little dye rubbed in to give it a little patina. The other strap is a full adjustable strap with a iron buckle and iron D-ring attached to the ends and leather wags to attach the horn with.
